  • I attended Grace Lutheran until a job change sent me to another state. Never before have I had the pleasure of attending church with such a knowledgeable, caring, dedicated and witty pastor. His bible classes before service were like taking a religion course at SDSU. Now I find myself looking for other pastors that have his knowledge and teaching abilities. His sermons I still remember even after being away for 2 years. He is on fire with the Grace of God. He is truly a servant of the Word. The Word does not change...so if you are sick of the "Have it your way" Christianity.... come back to the traditional liturgy. Communion EVERY Sunday.... Grace is the place!

  • Thank you rthompson. I am looking to relocate to San Diego and was checking out the Church situation in the areas I was considering. While I own two dogs, I was also checking out dog parks for them - not churches! I have been quite happy at my ELCA Lutheran Church, and your review of the Missouri Synod Church, as well as your excellent web page sets my mind at ease.

  • I liked the format of the website. I have attended intermittently for a long time. For the past three weeks, I have been fortunate to be able to attend every Sunday. This is especially a blessing now as I am experiencing a transitional period in my life.

I went there as part of a school project. I'm not necessarily christian, more of a unitarian universalist. But I do hold most of the teachings of Christ very highly. I was just upset that in the particular service that I went to Pastor John didn't really touch upon these things. He spent most of the time contrasting truth of evangelism with the non-truth of other faiths. He did make a valid and funny point about atheists in Great Britain, who claimed to be Atheists but said some obviously agnostic things(I enjoyed that). But overall it seemed like the service was aimed at doubters and pluralists(like me) by attempting to veer people away from other paths, I thought he was pretty much preaching to quire since most everyone there was already Baptized and drinking the Kool-aid so to speak.
However I only went to one service and I'm sure he has other more positive services. Other than that everyone was extremely kind, welcoming and in some cases attractive.

  • My children go to this school and are thriving. All the teachers there and specifically Ms. Laura are assets to the school and genuinely care for all the kids under their care. Further, Pastor Bombaro is one of the most kind and intelligent people I have ever met; he is truly a man of God who goes above and beyond his responsibilities to embrace all members of his congregation and to offer his help, council, and guidance to anyone in need. Visit Grace Lutheran just once and have a brief conversation with Pastor John (he offers a bit of his time to each attendee after church) and you will witness first hand his warmth and compassionate spirit.
